What does a productive day look like? I joined a new running club and ran 5km in the morning. Then I rushed back home to have lunch and walked 25mins to attend a panel discussion till almost 5pm. After that, we grabbed a small bite and headed back home to prepare dinner. Once I finished the dishes and took a shower, I finally sat down to write my blog and read a book called "Niksen"(in Dutch means do nothing) Apparently I did too many things today.

We were hanging out with our couple friends at Ran's Kantine. Love this restaurant so much, vegetarian, seasonal ingredients, monthly changing menu, and reasonable prices. The cuisine is inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, also the atmosphere is casual but the plating was sophisticated, so of course we’ll definitely keep coming back.

I'm trying to make our house greener. Therefore, we went to a plant market today, I brought five cute little plants back. Hope they can all survive, and have a growth spurt.(finger cross)

J and I watched the movie "NO OTHER CHOICE", as a person who is also seeking a place in this society, I could really relate to the pressure in that situation. Anyway I won’t spoil it, highly recommended. The last thing I want to share, when we were walking back home, we bumped into J's ex!!! Never thought we would meet like this.

What a hectic day. After three consecutive classes in the morning, I watched a Netflix show called "Nobody wants it" It was the perfect length to watch during lunch. After that, I met my language exchange partner. Later, I went to my student’s place for a private Mandarin class. Eventually, I came back home and had dinner with J at the dining table instead of in the living room watching TV. Now I’m writing my blog. That's it. Maybe I’ll look for a job and read a book later. Let’s see.

Tonight, we started our one-plate dinner. When it comes to dinner, I’m not used to only one dish per meal, so I normally cook at least three dishes for dinner. That feels home for me, but the disadvantage is overeating. Therefore, J and I decided to compromise and try the one-plate style. (actually more like cafeteria-style )We love it so far. Let’s see how long we can keep it up.

I went to the integration meeting this morning. I was a bit nervous but also excited at the same time. After a brief introduction explaining why we were meeting, we had an intelligence test to make sure we would be able to reach B1 within three years. (The required language level has changed from A2 to B1 since 2021.)Then I had an individual meeting with my case manager. I’m really glad I met her. We talked about my background and my Dutch learning plan, looking forward to the next meeting.

I went to a bookclub today. The book we were discussing was called “Designing Your Life” I read this book several years ago, but didn't finish it. Actually, more than discussing the book itself, I was looking forward to hearing how it affected other people’s lives. I’m really glad I participated in this book club.

This morning, J and I went to a bakery and had some pastries. Those really made my day, especially the new breakfast bun with omelette and whisky sauce(mamma mia!so tasty). Then I had a shift at the restaurant in the afternoon. It was super busy, which was actually worth celebrating because it meant we got more tips$$:)

I didn't expect J to pick me up at my workplace tonight. Cuz he said he saw the news that a missing Chinese woman had been found in the river today(RIP). He was worried that it wasn’t safe for me to walk back by myself. Knowing you are cared for by the person you love is such a blessing.

J and I are staring Thursday movie time, not on Fri or Sat, kinda like pre-celebrating Friday. Anyway, this week we’re watching "Minari" 𓇚
